UK starting to catch on to HD TV

The hype is starting to build up now with Sky, Telewest and the Beeb starting to try out HD broadcasting.

Soon there will be lots of people wanting to sell you HD-TV sets and other equipment - Sony are a good example.

There are many questions you need to ask the supplier, such as :

  • What is HDMI and has it got it?

  • Can it handle 1080i as well as 720p or does it just emulate it?

  • Can you daisy-chain the inputs or are you going to have to get one with several sockets?

  • Can you record to your DVR or are there DRM restrictions?
If you want to avoid buying a load of tosh then you'd better get some good background info - and the hdtv uk weblog is pretty good for this.

Extra - have just spotted a new Samsung digital camera (the 8 megapixel Digimax L85) has a HDMI connection to allow you to view your photos in HD on your TV.
