Microprocessors old and new

old-computer-pic.gif

Geeks.com has a nice range of Tech Tips.

There are a couple of articles which give a nice, brief history of processors - Part 1, The Basics and Part 2, More Than a Toy.

They show rooms that have been painted - like the one on the left -so that when viewed from a particular angle they create a 3D effect.

If you click on the picture above you can see the effect it is designed to create. Use the [BACK] button to return to this page.

ICT - Half-term session

If anyone asks why the results were not very good just remind them that, of the two ICT groups in Year 11, only ONE student took advantage of the extra time available today . . . . . and it certainly was not because everybody has done everthing they need to do.

It is very disappointing that so many of you are unable to see the need to put extra time in to ensure your work is as good as possible.

Pointless item 2 - Birthday calculator

This little site lets you enter your date of birth and then tells you lots of useless info about it.

As well as the obvious star sign and Chinese year it tells your age in "dog years" and how much water you could boil with the candles on your cake.

Briefly interesting.

Pointless item 1 - Tube map music

Tube map altered to reflect musical styles

An interesting - if pointless exercise - from the Guardian 'Culture Vulture' weblog.

The designer here has tried to match the lines on the London Underground with musical styles and then assign different artists to the stations.

In case the link to the map from the Guardian site disappears I have copied the pdf here.

Steam powered, remote controlled, crab

This site has a number of pictures - and a few links - of these amazing machines created by some enthusiasts.
