The original iPod?
This article on the BBC site last week highlighted the similarities between the Apple iPod and the Regency TR-1 transisitor radio. The TR-1 was the first transistor radio available in the shops back in 1954 and was equally as popular in its day as the iPod is today.

World Solar Challenge
The World Solar Challenge starts today in Australia. On the left is a picture of the vehicle produced by the STUT team (Southern Taiwan University, Taiwan). It will probably be a few years before these become everyday vehicles.
Teams compete to create and run the most effective solar-powered vehicle.

Photoshopping - again

On Wednesday I posted a link to a beginner's contest on the 'Worth 1000 Photoshop Contests' site. So to complete the week of posts I have returned there but this time to an advanced contest.
The task - to take propaganda-like posters and change them.
Once again I think they are all pretty good and I wish I could do as much with the software as these people manage. The final question still remains.
Can you do better?

Photoshopping
Over the weekend something happened which led me to the 'Worth 1000 Photoshop Contests' site. The picture on the left was the starting point for a beginner's contest recently - entrants simply had to photoshop the image and be creative. See here for their results - I think they are all pretty good myself.
Can you do better?

Flat wires
The modern house is getting ever more things that need connecting. Sadly wireless is not always the answer. So flat wires that can be stuck to surfaces and then painted or covered over look to be very useful.

Casemod - Matrix Regenerator

A simple link today to an album of photos showing one person's work in creating a PC case that looks like it is straight from the Matrix film trilogy.

Charging your Portables

Summer is over and you'll have to get off your backside and stop playing games for a bit now.
"But", I hear you cry, "why?" and you are right to be concerned.
With this handy solar charger you can keep playing wherever you are.
Wonder if they'll be on sale over here soon - and how much?
